Setting Up the iCON iCS on a Tripod

Overview

The iCON iCS can be mounted on either a carbon fiber or wooden tripod. This article covers the setup procedure for both types.

Carbon Fiber Tripod

  1. Extend the tripod legs and position the tripod over your desired setup location.
  2. Press the quick clamps on the tripod head to release the locking mechanism.
  3. Place the iCS instrument onto the tripod head, aligning the instrument foot with the tripod plate.
  4. Tighten the central fixing screw by turning it clockwise until the instrument is secure.
  5. Release the quick clamps to lock the instrument in place.
  6. Adjust the tripod legs to roughly level the instrument before fine-tuning with the footscrews.

Wooden Tripod

  1. Extend and position the tripod legs over your desired setup location.
  2. Place the iCS instrument onto the tripod head.
  3. Thread the central fixing screw up through the tripod head and into the instrument base.
  4. Tighten the screw clockwise until the instrument is firmly secured.
  5. Adjust the tripod legs to roughly level the instrument before fine-tuning with the footscrews.

Leveling the Instrument

After mounting on the tripod, the iCS will begin the automatic leveling process:

  1. Power on the instrument. The level LED will flash green while leveling.
  2. Adjust the three footscrews to center the circular bubble.
  3. Once the instrument is within the leveling range, automatic compensation will complete and the level LED will turn permanently green.

Note: If the level LED flashes red after setup, the instrument has detected movement and leveling is no longer valid. Re-level before measuring.
