The Leica 3D Disto software runs on Windows and must be installed on any PC or tablet you intend to use for measurements. This guide covers a fresh installation, reinstallation after a hardware change, and what to do if the software fails to activate.
Note: The 3D Disto software is not compatible with macOS or Linux.

Download the latest version (currently v6). If you are on a v5 license, only install the v5 installer — a v5 license key will not activate v6 software. See Upgrading from v5 to v6 if you need to upgrade.
When you launch the software for the first time, you will be prompted to enter your license key. Your license key was provided when you purchased your Customer Care Package (CCP).
If you need to reinstall (e.g. after a Windows reset, tablet replacement, or software corruption):
Important: Your license key is tied to your CCP, not to the device. You can reinstall on the same machine or a new machine as needed, as long as you have a valid CCP. If you receive an activation error after reinstalling, contact Advanced Dimensions support so we can verify your key with Leica.
