Care, Cleaning, and Storage of the iCON iCS

Overview

Proper care and storage of the iCON iCS will extend the life of the instrument and maintain measurement accuracy. The iCS is rated IP54 for dust and splash resistance, but is not waterproof.

Cleaning

Lenses

  • Use only a clean, soft lens cloth to wipe the camera and laser apertures.
  • Do not use solvents, acetone, or abrasive materials on any optical surface.
  • If the lens is dirty, blow off loose particles before wiping to avoid scratching.

Housing

  • Wipe the instrument body with a slightly damp cloth.
  • Do not submerge or rinse the instrument under running water.
  • Dry the instrument thoroughly before storing.

After Use in Wet Conditions

  • If the instrument has been exposed to rain or moisture, dry it completely before placing it in the carry case.
  • Leave the case open in a warm, dry area until all moisture has evaporated.
  • Do not store a wet instrument in a closed case — this can lead to corrosion and mold.

Storage

ConditionRange
Storage temperature-40°C to +70°C (-40°F to +158°F)
Operating temperature-10°C to +50°C (14°F to +122°F)
  • Store the instrument in the supplied carry case when not in use.
  • Keep the instrument away from strong magnetic fields, direct sunlight for extended periods, and high-vibration environments.
  • If storing for more than a few weeks, recharge the battery to at least 50% before storage and recharge every three months.
