DISTO Battery and Charging Guide
Overview
Leica DISTO models use either replaceable AAA batteries or a built-in rechargeable lithium battery, depending on the model. This guide covers both types.
Models with Replaceable AAA Batteries
Many standard DISTO models (such as the D1, D2, D110, and D210) use 2 x AAA alkaline batteries.
- Replace both batteries at the same time. Do not mix old and new batteries.
- Use alkaline batteries for best performance. Rechargeable NiMH batteries may work but can show shorter life due to lower voltage.
- Remove batteries if the device will not be used for more than a month to prevent leakage.
To replace: Open the battery compartment on the bottom or back of the device, insert the new batteries in the correct orientation, and close the cover.
Models with Rechargeable Built-In Battery
Higher-end models (such as the D810 touch, X3, and X4) have a built-in rechargeable battery charged via USB or a proprietary connector.
- Connect the supplied USB cable to the device's charging port and plug into a USB power source.
- The battery indicator on screen will show charging progress.
- Charge time is typically 2–3 hours from empty.
- The device can be used during charging in most models.
Battery Life Tips
- Turn off the device when not in use. Most DISTO models auto power-off after a few minutes of inactivity.
- Cold temperatures significantly reduce battery performance — keep the device warm in winter conditions.
- Avoid leaving the device in a hot vehicle for extended periods.
Low Battery Warning
When the battery is low, the battery icon will flash or a warning symbol will appear on screen. Save your work and recharge or replace batteries before the device powers off automatically.
