Setting Up and Leveling Your Leica Lino Laser Level

Setting Up and Leveling Your Leica Lino Laser Level

Overview

The Leica Lino line laser series projects highly visible horizontal and/or vertical laser lines for leveling, aligning, and layout tasks. This guide covers initial setup and the self-leveling process.

What's in the Box

  • Lino laser level
  • Batteries (or USB cable, depending on model)
  • Carry pouch or case
  • Wall mount / magnetic bracket (model-dependent)

Powering On

  1. Insert the required batteries (typically 3 x AA alkaline) or charge via USB if your model has a built-in battery.
  2. Press the power button to turn on the device.
  3. Depending on your model, you may select which laser plane(s) to activate (horizontal, vertical, or cross-line) using the mode button.

Self-Leveling

The Lino uses a pendulum-based self-leveling system. After powering on and placing the device:

  1. Set the Lino on a flat, stable surface or mount it on a tripod or the included bracket.
  2. Wait 2–3 seconds for the pendulum to settle. The laser line(s) will stabilize when the device is within the self-leveling range (±4° on most models).
  3. If the Lino is outside the leveling range, the laser lines will blink rapidly as a warning. Adjust the surface or mount until the lines become steady.

Mounting Options

  • Flat surface: Place directly on any flat, stable surface.
  • Tripod: Use the standard 1/4"-20 tripod thread on the base.
  • Magnetic bracket: Attach to any ferrous metal surface (pipes, studs, window frames).
  • Wall mount: Use the included mount for hands-free positioning on walls or door frames.

Switching Off Self-Leveling (Manual / Tilt Mode)

Some Lino models allow you to lock the pendulum and tilt the laser to a non-level angle (for raking lines, stair layouts, etc.). Refer to your model's quick guide for the specific button combination to enable manual mode.
